Grade VR 16 HH ESR
VR 16 HH ESR is a premium Electro Slag Remelted (ESR) high-hardness tool steel designed for advanced tooling and mould applications. It is supplied in a hardened condition of 48–52 HRC, making it suitable for demanding environments where superior wear resistance, strength, and dimensional stability are required.
The ESR refining process significantly enhances steel cleanliness by removing non-metallic inclusions and producing a fine, uniform microstructure. This results in improved toughness, fatigue resistance, and surface finish quality compared to conventional tool steels.
VR 16 HH ESR offers an excellent balance of hardness and toughness, reducing the risk of cracking or chipping even under high-pressure and high-temperature conditions. It also delivers better machinability than typical high-hardness steels due to its refined internal structure.
