Grade VR STAINLESS
VR Stainless is a high-performance stainless mould steel developed for plastic mould applications that require superior corrosion resistance, good machinability, and long service life. It is designed as an advanced alternative to conventional corrosion-resistant grades like 1.2085 and 1.2083, offering improved manufacturing efficiency and better surface finish.
This grade is supplied in a pre-hardened condition of 30–34 HRC, allowing direct machining without the need for additional heat treatment. This reduces production time, avoids distortion, and ensures consistent mechanical properties throughout the material.
With a high chromium content of 13–16%, VR Stainless provides strong resistance against rust, moisture, and corrosive plastics. It performs reliably in environments exposed to water-cooling systems, humidity, and condensation during moulding processes.
The steel also offers a good balance of machinability, wear resistance, and surface finish capability. It supports polishing, texturing, EDM finishing, and chemical etching, making it suitable for a wide range of mould applications requiring durability and low maintenance.
